Telkom – Summer of Wow

27 activity days over eight weeks delivered the desired results. We had a target of 10 000 connections (plus a stretch of 5000). We distributed over 15 000 targeted starter packs at shopping centres in Gauteng and KwaZulu Natal. Of these – 12 350 Sim Sonke connections were activated while 2650 Telkom More connections were achieved.

The challenge

In the cut-throat world of mobile phone networks, market share is all important and it begins with a SIM card. Telkom wanted to create awareness of, educate and drive SIM sales and connections of various products; Sim Sonke, Telkom More and internet starter packs.

What we did

To leverage off current brand sponsorships through on-the-ground retail activations during the Summer of WOW, we called upon top music outfit Micasa, Telkom brand radio soapie – Chomza Place, seven leading retailers (fashion, gifts and groceries). Entertainment
